Being a small business in the hospitality scene, a lot of the stuff we go through gets discussed in person. However, we use certain software to organise shifts and discuss/update on important topics:
: we use it to communicate across the whole team and ask important questions in writing, for clarity and transparency. There are different channels for different topics, but you can use direct messaging if you need to discuss private issues.
: we use it to organise everyone's shifts at the cafes and wholesale sections. We try to set your working hours and days at least one week in advance. If you need a change, please talk to Reuben.
: it's our accounting system, and you can view your own payrolls there.
If you haven't received an invite to those apps yet, please ask Reuben.
You can be reliable, you can be easy to get on with, or you can be the absolute best at what you do: but you only need to do two of these things to be successful in the worplace
Being a nice co-worker isn't too complicated. Here are a few simple things we'll ask you, in order to keep the Sample spirit alive (please):
Be respectful, supportive, compassionate and collaborative.
Strive to do better: if something is wrong or can be improved (we're definitely not perfect), just speak up. We welcome it. A lot.
Be on time.
0 discrimination or harassment of any nature allowed.
Consider the impact of your decisions on others and the environment.
Need anything? Something is not right? Just ask or discuss it politely.

For those staff at the Office, please avoid travel whenever you can. Zoom, Slack, and phone calls are preferred if the expected outcome is the same as that of IRL meetings.
For those where superannuation is included in the agreement, it'll get paid as required directly to the super fund.
Whenever possible, we'll pay bonuses ad-hoc and at the discretion of the director.
Whenever there is a new/open position, we'll let all staff know internally so existing employees can opt in first.
There are opportunities for on-the-job training and more formal career development, such as coffee roasting, cupping, brewing, marketing... Please let us know if you're interested in stepping up your knowledge so we can arrange a way to make this happen!

If you ever have any issues, uncomfortable feelings, thoughts, or feedback about how to improve/change anything, we encourage you to share them with whoever you feel is appropriate.
Please remember to be respectful and constructive. We're humans wearing many hats in this small business, and while we sometimes may miss something, everyone is trying to do their best.
You'll get paid at your agreed salary rate, always compliant with provisions. It'll be a direct deposit to your nominated account on a weekly basis unless otherwise agreed.
