Stuff You Should Know
A.K.A. "Employee Handbook".
APPS & COMMUNICATION
Being a small business in the hospitality world, a lot of the staff we go through gets discussed in person. However, we use certain software to organise shifts and discuss important operations issues:
Slack: we use it to communicate across the whole team and ask important questions in writing, for clarity and transparency. There are different channels for different topics, but you can use direct messaging if you need to discuss private issues.
Deputy: we use it to organise and visualise everyone's shifts at the cafes and wholesale sections (the roster). We try to set your working hours and days at least one week in advance. If you need a change, please talk to John K.
Xero: it's our accounting system and you can view your payrolls there.
If you haven't received an invite to those apps yet, please ask anyone at the office.
ETIQUETTE
You can be reliable, you can be easy to get on with, or you can be the absolute best at what you do: but you only need to do two of these things to be successful in the worplace
Being a nice co-worker doesn't take too much. Here are a few simple things we'll ask you, in order to keep the Sample spirit alive (please):
Be respectful, supportive, compassionate and collaborative.
Strive to do better: if something is wrong or can be improved (we're definitely not perfect), just speak up. We welcome it. A lot.
Be on time.
0 discrimination or harassment of any nature allowed.
Consider the impact of your decisions on others and the environment.
TRANSPORT & WORK
There's plenty of bus and train stations nearby so, if you have a chance, please come to work using public transport, car-sharing, bike or walking—whenever reasonable.
For those staff at the Office, please avoid travel whenever you can. Zoom, Slack and phone calls are our preferences, whenever the same outcome can be expected.
GETTING PAID
You'll get paid at your agreed salary rate, always compliant with Fair Work provisions, via direct deposit to your nominated account on a weekly basis. unless otherwise agreed.
For those where superannuation is included in the contract, it'll get paid as required directly to the super fund.
Whenever possible, we'll pay bonuses ad-hoc and at the discretion of the director.
LEAVE
